Product Review: Harness Lead

Leash pulling, harness escaping, and fears of your dog’s leash becoming detached from the collar or harness are all common problems.  Here, the Harness Lead will be reviewed, which overcomes many of these issues.

The Harness Lead is an intuitively designed product made from a single piece of exceptionally strong, woven nylon that can withstand up to 37,000 lbs of pressure.  This product is designed to wrap around the dog’s chest in order to eliminate choking and gagging that occur when pressure is applied to the trachea, such as with traditional no-pull products.  The Harness Lead applies pressure based on your dog’s movements, ensuring you never have to violently correct your dog.  Additionally, since the Harness Lead is comprised of one single piece of rope, you never have to worry again about a leash malfunction.

The Harness Lead is a great product for anyone whose dog pulls.  Best yet, the lead is one-size-fits most, meaning that it can be used on dogs as small as 15 – 20 lbs, or on dogs as big as 80+ lbs.  The only difference will be in the length of the leash portion.  A smaller dog will have 5 – 6’ of usable leash, while a larger dog will have 4 – 5’ of leash length.

This product is also highly recommended for dogs that are escape artists.  Due to the harness construction, the harness will automatically tighten against any dog that tries to back out of the restraint.  The double looping (one loop is around the dog’s chest in front of the legs while the second loop is around the dog’s chest behind the front legs) ensures that even if a dog were to somehow free itself from the first loop, it would be nearly impossible for to escape the second loop.  A rubber disc also stops the harness from becoming too loose on the dog.

This product is not recommended for owners who like to run with their dogs.  The harness will naturally tighten during running, which could become uncomfortable for the animal or discourage this activity.

The biggest advantages of the Harness Lead are the strength of the woven nylon, the escape-proof and no-pull design, and the ease of use.  This Harness Lead can also be washed in the washing machine.

The biggest limitation of the Harness Lead is that it is not chew-proof.  Additionally, this harness is only for use as a walking aid, not for leaving a dog tied up outdoors.

Similar products include the Dog Head Collar, the GoPets No Pull Dog Harness, and the Wiggles Wags & Whiskers No Pull Training Harness Package.  One key difference between the Harness Lead and these other products is that the Harness Lead is made of one singular piece of rope, which minimizes the number of components required for walking your dog.

Ultimately, the Harness Lead is a great tool for dogs of any size that have a pulling or harness-escaping problem.  It is not intended for use while running with your dog, but is perfect for long walks and hikes.
